Decisions In Life Transitions: A Hidden System Guiding You

The Hidden Decision-Making System Guiding You Through Life Transitions

Life transitions are rarely straightforward. Even when we are capable, self-aware, and experienced, change can feel heavy, uncertain, or overwhelming. Decisions that once felt simple suddenly require more attention and inner clarity.

During these moments, a question I’ve found transformative is:

🌿 What do I currently trust most when making decisions?

This simple reflection invites us to examine how we access guidance and make choices. Most of us rely on a combination of body, mind, and spirit, yet we rarely pause to see the ratio in which we actually trust each.

Understanding How Your Inner Authority

Through my own reflection, I realized that I don’t trust my intuition 100% — and that’s okay. In fact, I discovered my personal “inner authority ratio”:

  • Spirit/guidance system/intuition: 70%
  • Body/physical cues: 15%
  • Mind/thoughts & feelings: 15%

Years ago, my ratio looked very different: I relied more on the body and less on spirit. Recognizing this shift allowed me to navigate transitions with more confidence, clarity, and calm, and it’s a reflection I often guide others to explore in my programs.

This awareness is crucial: life transitions test how well we integrate our inner guidance systems. The more aligned we are with all three components — body, mind, and spirit — the more steady and confident our decisions feel.

Why Reflection Matters in Life Transitions

Transitions challenge us because they often expose gaps in our internal guidance system. For example:

  • Relying heavily on the mind can lead to overthinking or analysis paralysis.
  • Leaning mostly on the body might bring clarity through practical cues, but it can miss the deeper intuitive signals.
  • Ignoring the spirit or guidance system often leaves decisions feeling flat or misaligned, even if everything “makes sense” logically.

By reflecting on your current ratio, you can identify where you already feel grounded and where your attention may be needed.

Here’s a reflective exercise:

  1. Take a quiet moment and consider a recent decision.
  2. Ask yourself: “How much did I rely on my body? My thoughts or feelings? My intuition?”
  3. Assign approximate percentages — don’t worry about perfection.
  4. Now imagine your ideal ratio. How would it feel to integrate more spirit into your decision-making process?

This practice isn’t about judgment. It’s about awareness, alignment, and clarity — key tools when navigating life transitions.

Bringing Awareness Into Action

Reflection is powerful, but action solidifies transformation. Once you understand your inner authority ratio, you can start practically integrating your guidance system in daily life:

  • Body cues: Notice tension, ease, energy shifts, and what feels grounded.
  • Mind cues: Reflect on recurring thoughts, beliefs, and emotional patterns.
  • Spirit cues: Pay attention to intuitive nudges, synchronicities, and inner knowing.

Aligning these three elements creates a cohesive decision-making system, enabling you to navigate change with confidence and flow.

Why This Matters During Life Transitions

Life transitions — career shifts, relationship changes, or personal growth phases — naturally heighten uncertainty. They test the balance between our body, mind, and spirit, and can expose misalignments we might not notice in routine life.

Reflecting on your inner authority ratio helps you:

  • Make decisions aligned with your deeper self
  • Move through change with less friction and more ease
  • Reclaim clarity, confidence, and calm during uncertain times

The ultimate goal isn’t perfection. It’s awareness, integration, and trust in your unique guidance system.
